Abstract

Violence is prevalent in Australian society. Victims often present to general medical practitioners for care of the physical, psychological and social consequences. It is, therefore, important to be able to identify potential offenders in order to anticipate aggression and prevent it, if possible. A motivational cycle for violence is proposed, some common predictors examined and the problem of reliable prediction discussed.
