Abstract

The author takes into consideration the pathologies of functional overload that are most common in tennis: the elbow and shoulder. The epidemiology is then presented regarding high level and middle level athletes observed in the doctor's trauma-surgery of the Institute of Sport Science. Lesion mechanisms are then analysed with particular interest for sports equipment as far as elbow pathology is concerned, and the technical gestures regarding functional overload of the shoulder.
