Abstract

The surgical management and outcome of a case of subcutaneous avulsion of the left ring finger flexor digitorum profundus tendon insertion in a windsurfer are described. A brief account of windsurfing is accompanied by a discussion of the biomechanical forces imposed on the hands in this sport, and the consequences of constant gripping of the boom.
