Abstract

In-depth accident study was carried out for the analysis of injuries of car drivers to compare two cases of cars with or without airbag equipment. Cars which were involved in frontal collisions at an angle from 11 o'clock to 01 o'clock directions were chosen, and the AIS level of belted drivers were found lower for cars with airbag deployment than for cars without airbag. Especially, head/face injuries were reduced a lot for cars whose airbag was deployed. However, in case of minor severity collisions, the percentage of head/face injuries seems to be higher for cars with airbag deployment than for cars without airbag.
