Abstract

It is shown that drivers' reported and actual use of seat belts are predictable from their opinions about the comfort and effectiveness of belts. These relationships are, however, moderated by anxiety about possible accidents, in that low-anxiety drivers exhibit a stronger association between attitude and behaviour than do high-anxiety drivers.
