Abstract

The determination of launch speed for motorcycle accidents involving a vaulted operator presents unique problems to accident investigators. One problem is the determination of where the motorcyclist's body first contacted the road surface flight distance) and another is the determination of launch angle of the body. This article examines four formulae that are used to computer launch speed using different parameters (evidence) available to the investigator.
