Abstract

The number of motorists killed in Maine in traffic accidents has increased during last two years. Although the state's fatality rate remains below the national average, the data are leading to renewed calls for stricter seat belt laws and for motorists to drive slower. This article reviews some of recommendations and possible action plans of the Maine Transportation Safety Coalition's countermeasures.
