Abstract

On October 14, 1993 a series of four crash tests was conducted in conjunction with the joint National Association of Professional Accident Reconstruction Specialists/National Association of Traffic Accident Reconstructionists and Investigators/Maryland Association of Traffic Accident Investigators joint seminar. The tests were conducted under the guidance of Jerry Eubanks, an instructor for Texas A & M University's "Pedestrian and Bicyclist Accident Reconstruction" course. The tests were conducted on an auxiliary landing strip at the Ocean City Airport in Ocean City, Maryland. The crash test dummy used in all four impacts was the Eurosid, without its force measurement instrumentation. Its height was 5 feet 9 inches and its weight was 160 pounds. The vehicle used in Tests 1 and 2 was a 1981 Ford Mustang 3-door fastback. The vehicle used in Tests 3 and 4 was a 1983 Mercury Capri L 2-door.
