Abstract

This article examines the many factors associated with snowmobile safety and accident risk -- some are: Controls and Equipment; Operator Related Issues; Rider/Snowmobile Interface; Design of Roadway Curves; Speed Signs and Speed Limits; Roadside Obstacles and Hazards; Environmental Factors; Operations on Frozen Lakes/Rivers; White Out; Recommended Safety Tips & Equipment; Fogging of Face Shields; and others. The author goes into great detail pertaining to collection of data after a snowmobile accident has occurred, and also examines a number of elements related to pedestrian accidents involving snowmobiles.
