Abstract

This article discusses the psychophysiological elements that contribute to accidents of child pedestrians. It explores cognitive and physiological capabilities of children as pedestrians, environmental contributions, characteristics of child behavior and road safety programs. Cognition, motor development and brain development for during the toddler and early childhood stage, and during the middle childhood and adolescent stage are discussed.
