Abstract

This report summarizes the discussions and lectures of presenters from eight countries including Japan. It includes the text of the Tokyo Manifesto which lays out a basic approach to improving the urban transportation environment. The manifesto asserts that freedom of mobility and choice of transport modes are parts of every human being's basic rights. It addresses pedestrian access and safety; bicycles; motorcycles; automobiles; freight trucks; and public transit.
