Abstract

A Social Skills Training (SST) Programme was developed for targeted pupils - bullies and victims. From a total sample of 488 5-9 grades from two schools targeted 52 children took part in the SST. A Peer Nomination Inventory was used to assess the prevalence of schoolbullying at two time points over the course of an academic year - at the beginning and end. Pretest and follow up measures showed improvements among participants of group training - the frequency of bully/victim problems decreased by 50 percent and more in nine-month following period, whereby the whole-school ratings of bullying behavior improved, but not significantly.
