Abstract

The tragic and senseless slaughter on our highways will continue so long as we fail to meet conditions with adequate laws and regulations. Building wider multilane and more expensive "fast" roads is not the solution. The race for greater motor power and speed must be controlled by law and. we must ensure that all vehicles meet a much higher standard. of safety and that all drivers are fit and qualified in every respect. Alcohol and drugs are not the only rogue elements. The psychopath, the emotionally immature person and the halt and almost blind must be prevented from taking the wheel. This can and must. be done. Let us review a few of the facts and figures.
