Abstract

Growing together Europe and the increasing flow of traffic streams within the EU lead to the change of the legal basic conditions in traffic. In view of the risen mobility and of approx. 50,000 traffic fatalities annually within the EU, it cannot be accepted that the borders of the individual countries are obstacles for the prosecution of traffic offences. Against this background, recently in the EU agreements were reached for the closer co- operation of the member states regarding the prosecution of traffic offences. The substantial regulations of the agreements and their consequences regarding DUI are presented.
