Abstract

In an experimental study carried out by the manufacturer of STOPAL, 2 groups of 11 male volunteers each tested the much praised sobering-up preparation STOPAL which has received much praise for its qualities of significantly accelerating alcohol elimination. The alcohol given was 1 g/kg body mass. Blood alcohol curves were documented over the span of 6 hours by several individual measurements. The capsules described as a food supplement made from plant extracts were administered according to the manufacturer's recommendation. The recommended dose is 1 x 6 capsules or 2 x 3 capsules depending on the test group. Blood alcohol curves showed no alterations with STOPAL during the course of the study. The average drop in per mille values per hour remained marginally below the expected 0.15 per mille in both test groups. No statistically significant difference to 0.15 per mille could be documented in either group.
