Abstract

The Federal Highway Administration, in cooperation with National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), conducted crash tests in which a vehicle was propelled sideway at approximately 20 mph in a fixed pole in order to evaluate the effectiveness on side air bags. Additional tests of late model year vehicles were recently conducted by NHTSA. This compilation presents findings from three of these tests: a 2013 Chevy Silverado 1500 crew cab, a 2013 Honda Civic LX and a 2013 Ford Fusion Energi SE. The 1013 Honda Civic exhibited noticeably less crush than the other vehicles. (TRID)
