Abstract

On November 5, 2017, Brooke Army Medical Center emergency department (ED) was faced with the unthinkable: the deadliest mass shooting in Texas history, where 26 souls lost their lives attending church services in Sutherland Springs. That Sunday morning our trauma center received eight gunshot wound victims, 2 of whom were minors. Without warning, our residents faced a situation that they had only read about in textbooks.
