Abstract

This article examines the phenomenon of dowry-murders in India, as an example of the ways in which violence against women is perpetuated on a global scale. As the capitalist-patriarchal structure continues to perpetuate and strengthen, women need to understand and address its effects across nation states. The example of the Indian Women's Movement in combating violence against women can be universalized as a model for prevention of violence against women.
