Abstract

This paper aims to describe the development of a mathematical in which a detailed finite element model of the head consisting of the skull and brain has been coupled with a multi-segment rigid body model of the Hybrid III dummy. This paper further describes the dynamic response of the brain in several automotive frontal crashes with the dummy restrained by belt and airbag.
