Abstract

This National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) report presents analysis of a crash involving a truck-tractor semitrailer that collided with a medium-sized passenger bus on Interstate 35 (I-35) near Davis, Oklahoma in September 2014. The report describes the drivers and passengers involved in the collision and their injuries, the emergency response to the crash, the vehicles involved, and driver and highway factors contributing to the collisions. The report offers a crash analysis that includes an examination of the truck driver's drug use, the crashworthiness of medium-sized buses, and the role of event data recorders. Safety recommendations and an assessment of the probable cause of the crash and injury severity are also presented.
