Abstract

With India's 1 billion people, the 3.3 million km of roads carries 85 percent of total passenger movements and 70 percent of freight traffic, and creates a massive transport challenge for any country. Addressing India's transport system, this paper discusses the road development challenge of the country, factors influencing the road sector, and the trade mission impact on the development and use of the country's transport system.
